UPDATE!!
Join us in congratulating Inez as Minnesota's Outstanding Senior Citizen. She was presented the award at the Minnesota State Fair in St Paul on September 1, 2016

Inez is a good candidate for the Minnesota Outstanding Senior Citizen award for many reasons as mentioned below in one of the letters of support she received during the nomination process:

Inez is a very special woman who has spent a lifetime volunteering - becoming a full-time volunteer upon retirement and continuing to be an active volunteer during the last 29+ years.  As a volunteer at the age of 94, Inez continues to ask, "What more can I do?" You couldn't ask for a better role model for volunteerism.

She is the first to volunteer when there is something that needs to be done for the Argyle HOPE Program.  She does cooking and baking for seniors and younger people who are disabled and unable to leave their home - visiting them as well  and drives seniors to medical appointments as needed.  She also volunteers for the recycling and senior meal program.

Inez has been and is active as a volunteer working with children.  After retirement, she worked with preschool children and in the classroom as a RSVP Foster Grandparent and Reading Buddy. Currently, she volunteers to spend time with the 5th and 6th graders when they are done assisting seniors with recycling by calling Bingo as a reward to the children for their volunteerism.  Again, a great role model!

Finally, Inez has more than demonstrated what it takes to be an Outstanding Senior Citizen!

Check back for more about Inez in the coming month.  Also, if you have stories about Inez as a volunteer that you would like to share on this page, please send them to nina.platt@argylehope.com
